It takes more than an attractive salary to entice them. Millennials and Gen Zers have different priorities compared to previous generations. Today’s young demographic of professionals are searching for workspaces that promote a healthy work/life balance or businesses that are willing to contribute to their student loan debt. If employers want their company to stand out for today’s best and brightest, they must reevaluate the benefits and perks they are currently offering.

Much has been reported in recent years concerning how millennials and Generation Z differ from their generational predecessors. In response, perceptive employers have adapted the benefits they offer to entice and retain this demographic. For instance, student loan debt continues to be one of the most important financial issues young Americans face. In response, employers are providing aid as part of their compensation packages to help their team members resolve their education costs earlier.

Additionally, work-life balance is crucial to this age group; and some businesses appeal to these young professionals by offering on-site wellness programs, such as fitness centers and in-office yoga, along with flexible work arrangements. Moreover, numerous millennials and Gen Zers are holding off plans of settling down and having children, so a growing amount of companies are offering perks for their four-legged family members as well.

As the times change, so do the priorities of the average job candidate. To avoid being left behind, companies will have to reexamine the work perks they provide. Many employers are making adjustments to their benefits packages to incorporate more eye-catching perks that make younger talent feel welcome.
